Lucky Seven is a hip-hop/alternative musician from Buffalo, NY, owner of Howhood University Records, LLC and a Howard University alumni. Lucky Seven is most influenced by artists such as Nas, Drake, Madlib and Bob Marley. Lucky’s sound has be related to a Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z hybrid with production that sounds like futuristic, hardcore Rap mixed with Electronica. Lucky Seven is most known for his outspoken personality where he often offends and assaults other artists in the hip-hop industry. Quite simply, its been said that Lucky doesn’t give a fuck.
Lucky or, LS, starting pursuing a career in hip-hop at the age of 14 after being asked by rap mogul, Jay-Z to join him on stage at a local concert in Buffalo, NY. LS says that night changed his life. LS was in awe of the large crowd, the flashing lights and the cheers. From that point on, LS began to focus on becoming what he says is, an “international Hip-Hop artist.” Recording with local engineers and musicians, Lucky became a notable name in WNY and he began to learn quickly about the music industry. Soon, LS formulated the idea of starting his own record label.
Lucky Seven moved from Buffalo, NY to Washington, DC in 2004 to attend Howard University were he would meet his future business partners of HHU records. By time the winter of 2005 came, HHU records was established and Lucky released his first album, “The Best Kept Secret” which was met with critical acclaim. Performing at HU Homecoming, Platinum night club, and opening for Diddy at Temple University were all things that help him and the HHU gain exposure and a fan base. Since 2005, Lucky has released 2 other well received projects titled, “The Time Machine” (2010) and “The Industry Secrets” (2011).
Lucky Seven is currently working on his 4th project titled, “The Best Kept Secret 2: Class Is Back” where he will give the fans an inside look at his life post-graduation, and what successes and struggles he has faced since then. Recently, LS has been tied to artists such as, A$AP Rocky, Ab-Soul, Schoolboy Q, Big KRIT and Smoke Dza with collaborations and shows. Lucky feels that the road to success is built by strong relationships and a great work ethic. In the fall/winter of 2012 Lucky and the HHU crew will be on tour in WNY promoting the new album. Expect much success from this young talent.
