Who is JusTT and GifTT ?

Born in Brooklyn, New York, raised in Queens and currently based in LA, JusTT & GifTT are part of a new generation of American artists bridging the gap between hip-hop’s legendary past and a ripening future. As lyricists, their spoken word has a sprawling depth and sophistication that fuses the brooding intensity of poetry with the mechanic soul of hip-hop music. Their words are soaked with the struggles of life, laden with truth, tenacity and unrelenting determination that adds dimension to every breath.

Born June 1st the twins also Gemini’s are two of nine children born to parents emigrated from Haiti. Growing up in the Marlboro and Coney Island Projects of Brooklyn, everyday was a struggle they fought hard for their childhood against the backdrop of poverty, their parents working exhaustive hours to provide for the family. Staying out of trouble often meant being cooped up at home, staring at the world through a project window. It was here, however, the twins acquired a keen taste in music, and a voracious appetite for performing.

For JusTT & GifTT, music has always been the backbone of their very existence. Their memories are saturated by the rhythm of their mother’s Haitian records and their father’s love of the iconic Michael Jackson. As natural performers, Justt and Giftt embraced the chance to do so, as early as third grade they were in front of the class dancing and singing renditions of the latest radio hits. The high tempo beats and melodies that could seamlessly coincide with a metaphorical poetry. Each rhyme danced on their lips, an unavoidable flirtation that resolved their determination to make music for a living. They wanted it to be their voices on the airwaves.

As artists, the twins mission is to reintroduce the message into songs. Their beats serving to pump life through the veins of today’s youth, a youth in need of motivation to achieve. Not to be confused with many of today’s superficial rappers, their adamant about setting themselves apart, each word is riddled with meaning and intended to provoke emotion and passion. The grime from the streets peppers their rhymes with a raw truthfulness. Justt and Giftt’s music is an honest portrayal of gumption and fortitude, setting the dark hours on fire with their provocative sound.
