Remember in the Social Network when they hit 1 million members and Mark Zuckerberg got those “I’m CEO bitch” business cards? Well, those cards may need an update. Earlier this week it was announced that the wildly popular social media initiative hit 1 billion users. Yeah, you heard that right, 1 billion. In a short period of time, Facebook has become one of most profitable sites around. So to celebrate this momentous occasion, they used today to debut their very first ad campaign.
At 1 billion users strong and counting, the potential for Facebook is limitless. The new ad entitled, “The Things That Connect Us,” is produced by Wieden + Kennedy for FB and boast a very global outlook on communication. In the short clip, Facebook uses everyday items to show us how we connect with one another. Chairs, doorbells, music and sports, are all examples used to draw comparisons to Facebook.
