A talented young athlete on both the baseball diamond and basketball court, Isaac was admitted to the OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital after he suffered a cardiac arrest at basketball practice in January of 2012. Doctors then discovered a previously undetected abnormality that is one of the leading causes for heart attacks in children. While recovering from open-heart surgery, Isaac began working on sketches for a special edition Air Jordan 5 before he tragically passed away from a second heart attack in April of 2012. Inspired by his passion and spirit, Nike and OHSU Doernbecher continued working with Isaac’s family, ultimately using his original sketches to complete his design.
