
Born on December 25, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois, Henderson’s remarkable career spanned 25 seasons from 1979 to 2003, during which he played for nine teams, most notably the Oakland Athletics. He holds MLB records for career stolen bases (1,406), runs scored (2,295), unintentional walks, and leadoff home runs. His single-season record of 130 stolen bases in 1982 remains unchallenged.
Henderson’s accolades include 10 All-Star selections, the 1990 American League Most Valuable Player Award, two World Series titles with the Athletics in 1989 and the Toronto Blue Jays in 1993, three Silver Slugger Awards, and a Gold Glove Award. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2009, his first year of eligibility.
