Spike Lee and Denzel Washington are back for their fifth collaboration in Highest 2 Lowest, a modern flip of Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 classic High and Low. Set in modern day New York City, the film follows a powerful music mogul, portrayed by Washington, who faces a harrowing moral dilemma when his child is kidnapped in a ransom scheme. The movie is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2025, followed by a limited theatrical release on August 22 and a broader release on Apple TV+ on September 5.
